Yung Ho Chang, is one of China’s most accomplished and best-known contemporary architects. He is making a significant contribution to the development of contemporary architectural practice and education both in China and North America. A founder of the Graduate Center of Architecture at Peking University, he and his wife, the architect Lijia Lu, also established Beijing’s first independent architectural firm, Atelier FCJZ or Feichang Jianzhu (which translates as “Unusual Architecture”). Atelier FCJZ is already a significant emerging practice in China with a number of completed projects and installations.
Yung Ho Chang currently directs the Department of Architecture at MIT and has taught at Berkeley, Rice University and Tongii University (Shanghai). In 2002 - 2003 he held the Kenzo Tange Chair at Harvard's Graduate School of Design.
The recipient of the 2000 UNESCO Prize for the Promotion of the Arts, Chang recently received an American Academy of Arts and Letters Award.
